Gingerbread House

I found this gingerbread house at Trader Joe's. I was surprised when I was setting it up for Emi that the big cookie pieces were actually soft (I almost wanted to eat it!). This house is not your traditional looking gingerbread house, the box said it was a German gingerbread house, so here's to Emi's German heritage! She has a lot of fun making the house, especially when we were almost done putting on the candy decorations and she pretended to pop on in her mouth. Since we were almost finished I told her you can try a piece and her eyes lit up and the rest of the candy was history!

Christmas Tree

Here are some pictures we took of Emi by the Christmas tree before our first attempt to get Santa pictures. It was a Saturday morning and we were already off to a late start, you can probably guess, there was a huge line for pictures. I took Emi back on a weekday after musik class and we were the only ones!This one is for her aunties :)

32 week check up

We had our 32 week pre-natal check up this week and an ultrasound. The ultrasound showed that the cyst had shrank from about half the size that it was at 28 weeks, so that was a relief! The baby is continuing to grow, she's still on the smaller side (her head and legs are average but her tummy is a little small than average). Everything seems to be on track with my weight and belly size. We will have another ultrasound on the 27th!

Time is already flying by with Christmas just around the corner. The room is almost painted and after that we will just have to put the furniture back together, decorate and put clothes in the closet. There are a few things (like the circle that I had for Emi to take a picture for the baby's stats and announcements) I hope I can make for baby #2 while Erich is home on vacation.

Emi's First Hair Cut!

Emi finally let me cut her hair today! I did tell her if she let me cut it I would give her a treat...ice cream :) I should have taken a before and after shot but once she agreed I had to get the scissors out quick before she changed her mind!

She sat nicely on Daddy's lap while I cut away...


These pictures don't really show her new do very well but hopefully you will notice in the next few posts the difference.

Nathan and Emi

This week flew by! I am just now posting pictures from last Friday! As usual these two buddies had a fun morning together.

Snack time! They usually prefer to sit on the couch together like this...sometimes they even try to re in act the Hannah woa woa conversation they had a while back, Emi started it off today.

Nathan must be thinking, "The customer is always right."

Josh Books

Emi is hooked on these Bob Books that her friend Josh (one of the boys that I tutor) brought over. She loves these books so much we got her some of her own, she doesn't call them her Bob books though, she calls them her Josh books! It's so funny. She recognizes a lot of the titles and I love hearing her "read" them to herself.




Lately Emi and I have been reading Josh books together before bedtime and she's so sweet because she has started to put her hand on my belly and includes the baby when we are reading.

Popcorn and Fun!

Who knew that watching popcorn pop could stir up so much excitement? Nathan and Emi were laughing and hugging while waiting for their snack, it was so funny! After lunch they also had fun dancing to the "Super Why" song and chasing each other around...their laughter and smiles make me so happy!
I heard Nathan say to Emi, "Let's hold hands!"





They are waiting for the song to start (we replayed it a few times so they could dance) Emi is saying, "Let's snap!" And Nathan is just playfully trying to hug and catch Emi. They bumped heads at the end but both were okay and wanted to hear the song again!

30 week check up

I can't believe I am already 30 weeks along! The doctor appointment was pretty routine this time, I had my weight checked, listened to the baby's heart beat (150-160 bpm). My belly is measuring 30cm which is right on according to how far along I am and my weight gain has been steady. I barely passed the glucose test, lucky me! At my next check up in 2 more weeks, we will have another ultra sound to monitor the cyst and check the baby's growth.

We really need to get the baby's room ready, the weeks are flying by with the holidays already here! We are going to pick out paint this weekend and then it will be time to decorate and put Emi's crib back together. I know there are some of you out there dying to see a picture of my belly. I will work on that soon :)

Christmas Tree Hunting...

We went on a tree hunt (the Sunday after Thanksgiving) this year at a different farm than last year. This tree farm had a fire pit, cider, a horse, and lots of trees! Auntie Jeanie, Uncle Marc, Auntie Natalie, and Uncle Justin also got their trees too, it's been fun to do together each year- too bad I didn't get a group shot!

Cousin Jame's Birthday!

We had a birthday dinner (turkey and all) for (Erich's cousin) Jame's 21st birthday at Erich's aunt and uncle's house. Emi was really interested in their cats, she gathered all their toys and was on a cat hunt most of the time. The cats weren't as interested in her as she was in them. Happy Birthday James!

Thanksgiving 2010

This was our 2nd year hosting Thanksgiving at our house. Everything turned out great and I even had some time this year to make some decorations and bake cookies-yum! Erich made a delicious turkey in the green egg and everyone brought sides to share. After stuffing out tummies we played Beattles Rock Band, it was great entertainment! We are so thankful for our family, friends, and health!

UGH! Of course the pictures that I wanted to upload individually wouldn't with out an "error" each time...so instead I put a bunch of pictures in a slide show.

Chex Mix!

Emi wanted to help me make the Chex Mix for Thanksgiving. It was the perfect recipe for her to help me with! She really loves helping when I cook and today she did a pretty good job!

Shopping!

Emi and Nathan were so funny on Friday. They were pretending to go shopping and they knew just what they needed for a successful trip-bags, money, cell phone, and keys. They were shopping at Target, the grocery store and placing orders for drinks at Jamba Juice and Starbucks. I love watching them in their pretend play!

28 week check up

I had my 28 week check up today. The appointment was long and a little unsettling. We had an ultra sound first and they found that the placenta had moved away from the cervix (which is the reason why I had the ultrasound scheduled in the first place) but then the ultra sound tech saw a cyst in the baby's abdominal area and did not measure any growth in the baby since the 20 week ultra sound. So made an appointment to see a specialist at the Maternal Fetal Medicine Clinic the next day to get a closer look at the baby. In addition to all that...I had to get my blood drawn for the glucose test but they weren't able to get my blood because I have tiny veins, they tried twice and the 3rd time I almost fainted...not fun. So I get to drink the glucose drink again...

Thankfully the news we received from the 2nd ultra sound at the specialist was positive. We were relieved to find out that the cyst is probably going to dissolve on it's on and it's probably caused by the hormones that the baby is getting from me. The size of the baby also measure larger than the previous ultra sound so that was good news too! Next check up will be at 30 weeks!

Grandpa Visits

We had Grandpa Greg over for dinner the other night and Emi sure enjoyed his company!
After dinner Emi and Grandpa colored and played. Then Emi wanted to play photographer...Thanks for visiting!
