Kenzi's 1st Birthday Party

For Kenzi's 1st birthday we celebrated with family and a few close friends.  Kenzi did not take her morning nap like usual that day, I guess she was a little too excited to see everyone.  Here she is below with her buddy Kasen. {For those of you who haven't seen this lil cutie before, he is Emi's lil friend Nathan's brother, pretty cute huh?}

I think Kasen was leaning in for a birthday smooch but Kenzi was caught off guard...

and he missed...next time buddy!

Kenzi did take a few bites but did not really care either way if she had
cake or not.  She really preferred the fresh blueberries
and strawberries she was offered after
we took the cake away.

After almost everyone left we had one tired girl.  She snuggled with
Auntie Sonia who put her down for her nap.

Kenzi 12 Months

Look at this lil muffin...she is 12 months old today!  I think Emi was used to smiling for the camera because I was always in her face with it...Kenzi...well she doesn't get chased around with a camera as much.  She does smile a lot though!

On Kenzi's birthday she began to walk more than crawl.

I thought this picture of Emi was cute, she looks so proud of her lil sis.

Another thing that Kenzi decided she should do on her first birthday was to use a spoon!
Since her birthday she has been interested in self feeding which I was struggling to get her to do before.

On her birthday we had a special dessert.  Strawberries and whip cream.
There she is waiting patiently, wondering what that glowing stick of fire was on top of that
white pile of red fruit.

Emi was sweet and patient waiting to see how Kenzi was going to like her dessert.

Then she offered to help...so sweet.  Kenzi and Emi enjoyed their  strawberries and whip cream treat!

Cousins

Emi and Kenzi are always ready to greet their little cousin Melanie when she arrives to our house, it's so sweet to see.

We were noticing that Kenzi has been making this face with her lips a lot this week...

I can't believe she will be 1 in just a few more weeks!

Breakfast time!  We were making waffles this morning.

Emi was leading a tech class this afternoon on the couch.  Looks like she's got  Kenzi and Melanie's attention!

Emi's Haircut

I was hoping that this day would never come...I never cut my hair as a child, maybe that's because my parents cut hair.  Well during quiet time Emi decided today was the day...and now she has bangs.  I was at a baby shower when Erich texted me, "Emi cut her hair."  I thought he was joking at first...then he called Gung Gung to help fix it.  Thankfully he was able to find some proper scissors and blend together Emi's first attempt.  Here is Emi's new look!  I am getting used to it.

Looking Out the Window

I forgot how a simple thing like looking out the window could be interesting to a baby. Kenzi loves to stand on our bench under the window and take a look outside.
