Happy New Year everyone! We had our first dinner of the New Year at Uncle Joe and Sonia's {as we have the past few years}. It was a fun evening with yummy food and drinks. Emi especially like the smoked salmon spread. After we were all stuffed with salad, turkey, ham, and baked veggies we everyone played Kinect Just Dance. Kenzi took a couple of her first steps as everyone was playing! It won't be long until she's walking :)

Great Wolf Lodge

Erich usually has vacation days to spend with us over the holidays and this year we took a mini trip to Great Wolf Lodge. We'd never been before so it was something we were all looking forward to!

Emi's favorite thing to do was listen to the story time in the lobby.

Hanging out in the Kids Cabin. There was a bunk bed on the other side,
3 twin beds total and then a queen on the other side of the "cabin." Next time we'll bring family!

The wave pool was Emi's favorite this time. I was surprised that
she was brave enough to go on the big slides all by herself!

All in all we had a great trip, however we did catch some bug or food poisoning...with in an hour after getting home Emi got sick, then Kenzi, me and Erich. It was not a very fun 48 hours. Thankfully we were all better by Christmas day!

We celebrated Christmas Eve a little early this year at Christine and Eric's new house {which was my grandma's house}. It was fun celebrating at a "new, old house" where my sisters and I have had many childhood memories. Tonight was like any Lam family gathering, full of fun and laughter!

Little Kenzi's first Christmas!

Auntie Christine assigned Emi a very important job tonight, she was the
"ice cream waitress," with a menu and an apron! She did a great job asking each person,
"What kind of ice cream would you like?"

I love how Kenzi has her hand on her head in this picture as if she is thinking,
"Why do they think they are going to get a good shot of all 3 of us." But we tried...

This was the best one I got on my camera, I'll have to check Auntie Jeanie's blog
to see if she got a better one.

Time for Secret Santa presents. Auntie Jeanie gave Kenzi
two great books and a very cute penguin outfit! Thank you!!!

Emi was the expert gift opener of the evening, asking everyone if they would
like help opening their present. She got the Hungry Hippos game from Po Po.
She loves this game! Thank you!

Kenzi 10 months

Kenzi is 10 months old. Kenzi is so happy! She can stand on her own and took a few steps on New Years Day. When she see's Erich she says, "Da da!" She's starting to say the "maaa" sound too so I'm sure she'll be yelling for me soon :) Kenzi is eating more but she's definitely a little different than Emi with her eating habits... Kenzi does not like to put anything in her mouth on her own, in fact she makes a face as if we are trying to teach her to feed herself poison when we put a piece of cracker in her hands. We'll keep working with her to self feed in the mean time she might just be too focused on learning to walk instead.

While we were decorating she made a comment, "We can't put ornaments near the bottom of the tree because we have a baby. Maybe next year we can put them on the bottom because we won't have a baby."

We cut our tree from Christmas Creek Farm this year. I think after our 3 years of tree cutting experience, this is the best place we've been to! This place was great! We found our tree, cut it down, went on a hay ride and saw Santa!

Kenzi is 9 months old! She is as smiley as ever and races around on her hands and knees to see what everyone is up to. She can now ring the door bell on the play house, very exciting for Emi! Kenzi has been growing more teeth, soon she will have 4 teeth on the top and bottom! She can snack on Joe's O's and she's tried raisins.

We got Emi back into swimming! The first session was hard, she fell in the first day of her first session, and there was a lesson in every lane of the pool so it was very loud. This is Emi in her new session at the Boehm's Pool in Issaquah. She is doing much better with the morning class with less distractions and noise. We miss taking her to Kinderswimmer but she's getting used to the water again and she is making progress!

Fox Hollow Farm

We met up with friends at Fox Hollow Farm. Emi still does not like the smells of a farm...as you can see below she is always covering up her nose around the animals and telling me, "it's stinky!"

I was surprised and happy that Emi was brave enough to ride the pony, she waited until all her friends went first. And then she didn't want me to walk around with her, instead she wanted Auntie Anne to help her :)

Jubilee Farm

The Ladybugs Class met at Jubilee Farm to check out the pumpkin patch and see some animals.

It was a chilly morning and Emi and a few of her friend piled into
Nathan's car to keep warm while we waited for more friends to arrive.

Kenzi 8 Months!

Kenzi is now 8 months old! She's sweet, easy going and of course growing way too fast! Kenzi can now clap when we play patty-cake, wave and we think it sounds like she's imitating the words "bye bye," of course she makes a bunch of other cute baby words too. She's a speedy crawler so she can keep up with her big sis and is pulling herself up on furniture, toys, anything to get a different view. Kenzi has four teeth, the top ones are just coming in. She's into eating puffs and most other pureed food, she'd really would love it if we just fed her food off our plates but she's still a little young for that. We love our little Kenzi Wenz!

Nathan and Emi took a little break in September from their weekly play dates but now we are back at 'em! Emi and Nathan see each other at school on Tuesdays and Thursdays and then on Wednesdays and Fridays Corey and I take turns taking the kiddos for a few hours.

I noticed they played really well today and I'd like to think it's because of school. I loved hearing the way they were talking to each other and so understanding if they didn't want to play the same thing at the same time.

Nathan was doing a great job and seemed much more interested in the project than when we did our summer tree.

Remlinger Farms

One our preschool friends invited us to Remlinger Farms, since Erich was taking this Friday off we were able to go and have Nathan join us too. What a fun place to enjoy with friends! Nathan and Emi had a great morning together along with a few of their buddies from school. We didn't get any pictures with the other kids, there was just too much fun to be had! Thank you Jennifer and Jackson for organizing our trip!

I had a great birthday this year! Erich took the day off and we went shopping at Bellevue Square (well I shopped a little and Erich took the kids up to play) then we had a nice little lunch at the Nordstrom cafe (they are so kid friendly). We had my parents, sisters' and their families over for cake! It was nice and simple, thanks everyone for the birthday wishes!

Erich thought it would be fun to take Emi to a Mariners game. Emi was more excited to ride the bus there than to be at the game. She liked playing at the kids area but did not like the loud cheering of the fans...they stayed for about an hour then left to eat dinner. We met up with our friends Becky, JT, and Haley at Heritage Park in Renton. This was the first time we'd been to this park, it was the perfect spot for tots! Emi and JT have been friends for 2 1/2 years. Haley and Kenzi are about 6 months apart. I am so glad we've kept in touch with the Keene's they are such a great family and it's fun to see how our families have grown since we met. I snagged these pictures from the Keene's blog, my pictures did not turn out well at all and Becky seemed to get some great shots! Thanks :)

Kenzi's 7 Month Update

Kenzi is so much fun at 7 months! She is now able to crawl where ever she wants to go and just figured out how to pull herself up on her crib. We lowered the mattress on the crib tonight before putting her to sleep. Kenzi is also enjoying eating table foods like yogurt, steamed eggs, avocado, applesauce, and peaches. Every time we are having a meal she makes it known that she wants to eat just like us! Kenzi has a cute one tooth smile, the second one is coming soon I think. It was nice to enjoy her toothless smile a little longer than her sister who cut her first tooth at 4 1/2 months. Kenzi seems to imitate "da da" and is starting to try to wave, it's so fun to watch her grow! What a little cutie pie!

Emi's First Day of Preschool

Emi has been looking forward to the day that she gets to go to the Children's Garden to play. She had a great start! The teachers send home a little note about the day and on Emi's first day she was super excited about painting since she painted 8 pictures! We are looking forward to the next 2 or 3 years at the Children's Garden.

I had some friends over for a Stampin' Up! Workshop and Emi didn't want to miss out on the fun. In addition to stamping, Emi's specialty is using Elmer's glue and gluing little scraps that she finds or cuts. We are working on using small dots of glue. I'm so happy that she enjoys being crafty too.

Kenzi's 6 Month Update

Kenzi checked out great at her 6 month well check up appointment. She now weighs 13lbs 14 oz and is 26.5 in tall. We started some solids here and there after she turned 5 months and now that she's hit the 6 month mark we are ready to be more consistent (and prepared) with something tasty at least once a day. So far Kenzi enjoys avocado and apple sauce. Dr. Ryan recommended starting yogurt and eggs since she is in the 10-25 percentile for weight. This drop is weight is probably because she is crawling all over the place already! This happy lil girl doesn't want to miss a beat when she sees everything that her big sis Emi is doing.

Emi had her 3 year well child check up and she did great! It helped that she didn't need any shots at this appointment. She now weighs 29lbs and 13oz, and is 37" tall.

Spokane 2011

We took a trip to Spokane to visit Great Grandma Maxine. We were happy to introduce her to Kenzi for the first time. After we arrived to Spokane we went to Aunt Robin and Uncle Brad's house for a birthday bbq for Auntie Christin. We also got to see Auntie Bekah, Auntie Abby and Darren. Emi loved jumping on the trampoline at their house and playing with Auntie Abby and Darren. Emi and Kenzi were pretty good travelers and we really enjoyed our visit with Grandma Maxine. Thanks for a great visit!

On the eve of JT's 3rd birthday (Happy 3rd birthday JT!) we meet up for a long over due play date. Our plan was to meet at the Mercer Slough blueberry farm...lunches packed, kids bundled...and it rained of course! So plan b, play at the Kids Cove at Bellevue Square. The Kids Cove was a zoo so the kids ran around for a little bit but I think they were both a little over whelmed so we found a quieter place to have lunch and catch up.

We enjoy our Fridays with Nathan! It's so fun to see Emi and her friend "grow up" together. I can't believe these two are beginning preschool in the fall. I am SO happy they will be beginning school together.

I snapped these pictures of Kenzi in her crib. She's such an easy going baby, I love how she can find her thumb to help her get to sleep. She's not swaddled in her swaddle me blankie anymore either, she prefers to have her hands free and to be wrapped around her tummy instead.

Kenzi's 4 Month Update

Time is flying! Kenzi is now over four months old! She's growing and developing well! Kenzi is so happy and loves to give smiles and chat with anyone who will listen to her. She weighs 12 lbs 10.5oz and is 24 and 1/4 inches long. Kenzi can roll over and is beginning to grab for toys, hair, and anything! Since she's rolling she doesn't get swaddled at night, instead she's now in a sleep sack which helps her from rolling too much. She was bonking her head and waking herself up in the middle of the night but her good ol' thumb has been helping her get back to sleep, most of the time :)

The shots were no fun but she's as healthy and happy as can be!

Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day! Erich had a full Father's Day weekend! He's training for a half iron man so this weekend he woke up and went for a swim and a run each day. Then celebrated Father's Day with his dad and the girls while I had lunch with my Dad. Everyone came over to our house for dinner, to celebrate more!

Then she got tired and fell asleep right on her blanket!

Then later that week I put Kenzi in the horse so I could make dinner, she began to fuss a little
but I wasn't at a good stopping point to pick her up and so a few minutes of fussing
ended in a baby asleep in her horse, so cute!

Emi is one lucky girl! Our neighbors kindly handed down this Power Wheels Jeep to Emi this weekend. She's still learning how to drive, it's hard for her to steer and step on the pedal at the same time. You can tell by her big smile that she really loves the Jeep. Thank you to our kind neighbors!

It was nice Sunday morning so we decided to check out this spray park that I never even knew existed in Sammamish. It's a little hike down from the Sammamish library and city hall.

Late Easter

Auntie Sonia and Uncle Joe stopped by to bring Emi an Easter basket. Emi was happy to find yummy treats in her basket but really loved playing with Auntie Sonia and Uncle Joe. It's so fun to hear her giggle and play with her Auntie and Uncle. Thank you both for the Easter basket and company!!!

Fox Hollow Farm

Fox Hollow Farm is along the Issaquah Hobart Road. I never knew this farm was hidden back there until I saw that another friend had been. Emi and I visited once before when they had a free event that invited people to the farm to check out the baby pigs that were only a few days old. However, when we came last time, it was raining, I was pregnant and I forgot the camera! So we came back as a family of four this time and it was a fun morning for all! Emi wanted to be held since she was a little nervous about some of the farm animals roaming freely, but she did enjoy helping Daddy feed some of the animals.

We met up with friends for some bouncing at Kidz Bounce in Preston. Emi was way more into bouncing than the last two times that she's been to a bouncy place so that was great to see!

I decided to try to put Kenzi in the high chair at Po Po and Gung Gung's house and then Emi starting putting coasters on the tray. Kenzi giggled and then Emi started laughing to get Kenzi to laugh. This was the first time that I've heard Kenzi laugh so hard. I love hearing the two girls giggle!

Kenzi is growing so fast! She has already hit the 3 month mark. She's been a great sleeper, which makes Mommy very happy! Kenzi is discovering her hands and making fists to suck on. She is also working on rolling over, she hasn't done it yet but she loves pivoting around her play mat. Kenzi loves to chat and also has developed a cute social smile that warms our hearts.

Our friend TJ was in town from Arizona and it had been a year or two since we'd seen him so we got a few more friends from high school together for a mini reunion. We had a great time catching up and laughing about our high school days, we need to catch up more often!

Erich's 30th birthday was low key...he had beers with his buddies at a Fremont Brewery and dinner with family. The weather was nice for the whole weekend so we even got to take a hike on the Soaring Eagle trail in our neighborhood, it was a nice bonus!

Time flies, I am already 2 months old!

Dr. Ryan says that I am growing well and my legs are very strong. She warned my parents that I might roll over earlier than they think so they need to keep an extra eye on me!

Dr. Ryan was right about keeping a close eye on me, I haven't rolled over yet...
but I did get tangled in some hair and had to take my first trip to urgent care.
Some how a thin piece of hair got wrapped really tight around my middle toe!
Good thing mommy noticed and daddy took me to get it taken care of.

Poor lil toe, it's healing nicely.

Since it's been rainy around here we've been inside...Emi's been interested in matching her lower and upper case letters since playing the matching game with her cards. She also loves playing on www.starfall.com it's a fun website that my first graders liked and it has Emi interested in learning letters.

Emi's First Trip to the Dentist

Emi's first trip to the dentist was super successful! She cooperated very well, it was easy since she saw Dr. Wong a pediatric dentist and relative. The clinic was so kid friendly and not intimidating at all -I wish I could have had my teeth cleaned there!

Beautiful Spring Weather!

It was SO nice to wake up to spring like weather and even though we are getting over our colds we headed to the park for some fresh air. Emi pushed her tricycle and Kenzi rode in the Baby Hawk carrier.

On our walk back home Emi grabbed the camera out of the trunk of her trike and said, "Wait, I have to take a picture of something." And this is what she snapped...pretty good!

We were given this beading set from our neighbors and I decided to take it out for Emi to try out. She seems really into it for now. I also put some other activities (chalk board, magnet board, puzzles...) for her to play with in her room so that she can have some quiet time, we'll see how that goes.

Emi still enjoys reading, right now her favorite reads are her Hello Kitty books :)
